It all started with Kristin, journalist and traveler at heart. Born in Almaty, she grew up in Belgium — then one day, she made her way back to her home country. And from that urge to connect her two worlds, Europe and Central Asia, Eastern Paths was born.
Today, we're a small team backed by a big network of partners, all sharing the same drive: to show you Kazakhstan as it really is, and get you a taste of our way of life — outdoor, adventure, curiosity, horses, freedom.
We do that by organizing trips, but also by sharing content and info about the country.

Of course! Many of our travelers choose to explore Central Asia on their own. You will join a group, which is a great way to meet people and share the experience.
The equipment you need to bring depends on each expedition. A detailed list is provided upon registration and can, of course, be requested at any time. In general, good shoes and a backpack are essential. Tents and sleeping bags are sometimes included, depending on the expedition.
The off-the-beaten-track expeditions we offer inherently involve a degree of adventure. That's why you are always accompanied by experienced, trustworthy local guides who are thoroughly familiar with the terrain. Safety is a priority at every stage, so you can enjoy the experience with peace of mind. It is simply important to remain alert and listen to instructions throughout the expedition.
Eastern Paths is a project based in Kazakhstan, developed with a team based locally. Expeditions are carried out in direct collaboration with local residents and initiatives, working closely with local realities. Particular attention is paid to projects that lack visibility due to language barriers, in order to support sincere initiatives that are deeply rooted in their territory.
Any cancellation made more than 60 days prior to departure will result in a full refund. Between 30 and 60 days prior to departure, 50% of the amount will be refunded. For any cancellation less than 30 days prior to departure, no refund will be made. In cases of force majeure, a refund will of course be provided.
It is entirely possible to discuss a project or expedition by phone or video call. You can contact us via WhatsApp to request a call. Consultations are offered at a rate of âŹ50 per hour. If this consultation leads to the actual organization of a trip or expedition with us, this amount will be deducted from the final price, meaning the consultation is free of charge.
Everything is included except airfare, insurance, and any expenses incurred outside of the expeditions. If you are participating in a solo expedition, hotel nights may not be included to allow for greater flexibility and to better suit your budget.
